TrainingIn collaboration with Cranfield University at Silsoe, 2 courses are provided for Modelmaker particularly aimed at Environmental Modelling and Risk Assessment. One and two-day workshopsModelling has become an essential tool in planning and research to test proposed solutions, evaluate environmental risk and examine the sensitivity of a system to environmental change. Environmental models are now widely accessible and are used routinely in risk assessment for a range of chemicals. Environmental scientists need to understand the basic principles and appreciate the constraints for modelling and evaluating output. 2 training Modules are available:
Module 1 (Modelling Environmental Systems)This course is designed to introduce scientists and engineers to environmental modelling and includes hands-on experience of model development and simulation using the ModelMakerTM software package. It is aimed at environmental professionals who are involved in consultancy, research or planning. In just one day you will:
Module 2 (Environmental Modelling and Risk Assessment for Chemicals)This two-day course is aimed at members of industry and environmental regulators who are involved in assessing the environmental risk of chemicals. The course will demonstrate how models can be used in the risk assessment process and will combine presentations, discussions and hands-on experience. Training will be given in the most commonly used models for assessing exposure, effects and risks including fugacity models, PRZM-3, MACRO, TOXSWA, QSARs and EUSES. At the end of the course you will:
Course LeadersAlistair Boxall (Chemical Fate & Behaviour, SSLRC) Specialist in assessment
of predictive modelling, with particular emphasis on the environmental fate of chemicals.
Registration informationCost of the course: Module 1: £350, Module 2: £750, Modules 1+2: £995 Venue: Cranfield University, Silsoe, Bedfordshire MK45 4DT
